SketchUp Developed Model
The model in which i have developed is an expression of each artist (Hall & Moffat) in response to two words (Composed & Linger), which have helped me to develop a distinct and significant approach to engaging with their work. While the model itself may not be the greatest demonstration of practicality, its conceptual design highlights immense creativity and the vivid imaginations of each artist. I have maintained the contrast of glass and stone (transparent & opaque) throughout to not only enhance the buildings visual appeal, but as a metaphor for the two artists whose works are very different. The stone represents Moffats conviction to underline the status of the ignorable Fourth place althete, while the glass portrays Hall's sculptural art to illustrate more delicate issues - the biological diversities in science. The extracting walls not only make a greate feature in which to display the artists work, but allow different angles of light to pierce through the building, illustrating its grandeur and complexity. Furthermore, the glass rods erecting out of the ground give the building character and are a natural source of light for Hall's studio. The interior of the building also sustains uniqueness, through the floating platform showcasing Moffat's work. This platform is supported by glass stairs which allow guests to move readily between studios. However it is the design of these stairs which allow for the transition between worlds; moving from Moffat's raw and explicit photography, to the institutionalised context of Hall's work.
