I experienced immense difficulty in submitting my assignment through 3D Warehouse, therefore i was forced to submit via another file hosting website. the following is a link to my skecthup model through a site called MediaFire.

Tracey Moffat: Fourth

Moffatt: Fourth, Composed, Humble

Tracey Moffats artwork is part of a series of 26 other images in which the artist has used colour print on canvas. In this series, Moffat focuses on those athletes who came fourth at the 2000 Olympic games in an attempt to highlight the perverted glamor of 'almost being a star'; through photography. Moffat has also used research, to capture the acute moment when the athlete finishes the races and looks to see their final result. In doing so, Moffat depicts the expressions of athletes (a set look - which is an awful, beautiful, knowing mask) to suggest that its simply beautiful to try and not necessarily win.

Fiona Hall: Cell Culture

Hall: Cell Culture, Linger, Relentless

(2001) "RoselynOxley9 Gallery" [Online] Accessed 10 March 2009,

This artwork is a member to a collection of 30 other objects in which artist Fiona Hall has used glass, metal, pvc and beads in vitrine. Working with a range of medias, Hall has used a composition of production methods. In Cell Culture Hall has used a white plastic container and beaded components that have been sewed together and shaped to a particular form. She has also worked with glass to explore and express her ideas. Other methods adopted by Hall in this collection include woven videotape, carving plastic from plumbing pipes, shredded coca cola cans and creating shapes out of sheets of aluminium and sardine cans.

SketchUp Developed Model

The model in which i have developed is an expression of each artist (Hall & Moffat) in response to two words (Composed & Linger), which have helped me to develop a distinct and significant approach to engaging with their work. While the model itself may not be the greatest demonstration of practicality, its conceptual design highlights immense creativity and the vivid imaginations of each artist. I have maintained the contrast of glass and stone (transparent & opaque) throughout to not only enhance the buildings visual appeal, but as a metaphor for the two artists whose works are very different. The stone represents Moffats conviction to underline the status of the ignorable Fourth place althete, while the glass portrays Hall's sculptural art to illustrate more delicate issues - the biological diversities in science. The extracting walls not only make a greate feature in which to display the artists work, but allow different angles of light to pierce through the building, illustrating its grandeur and complexity. Furthermore, the glass rods erecting out of the ground give the building character and are a natural source of light for Hall's studio. The interior of the building also sustains uniqueness, through the floating platform showcasing Moffat's work. This platform is supported by glass stairs which allow guests to move readily between studios. However it is the design of these stairs which allow for the transition between worlds; moving from Moffat's raw and explicit photography, to the institutionalised context of Hall's work.
